so i have a ka24de now...
Just study up on it, because the KA in the truck is a far cry from the KA in the 240's. The front sump KA's and SR's are in need of either a newly fab'ed oil pan, or some kind of crazy motor mounts (Possibly both) to meet the needs for a rear sump truck application. The steering systems are totally different b/w a pickup and a rack and pinion passenger car, so be ready to deal with clearance issues. The OBD II system on the truck is a pain in the ass, and the ignition system is a completely internal coil driven off the crank, so none of the OBD II S14 stuffs driven off the timing idler sprocket will work. The block is WAY anemic as compared to the 240's KA. Many of the bolt holes in the tranny have no corresponding block to bolt to, and the main caps are not linked by a one piece girdle, like in the 240. The head castings are identical, and cams swap very easily. I have since put a 240SX intake manifold on my truck, due to the fact that when I went turbo, I could not boost much without crappy leaks from the truck's throttle body neck. As you can well see, the truck has an equeal length plenumless intake manifold to improve low end torque, but it sucks for boosting, since you cannot clamp onto it. The exhaust mani is SUPER contrisctive as compared to a stock 240, but the turbo mani's will fit from the aftermarket 240 applications. There is steering shaft interference when using a Rev Hard mani with either a Tial or a Deltagate. Beyond that, the engine is pretty much the same. Except for the bore/stroke. The truck has a lower C/R. The clutch in the truck is actually bigger, too, I believe. I think the 240 uses a 225mm, and the truck uses a 240mm clutch. That may require some research. I'm currently working on my higher boost mods with mine. I'm trying to get the harness and ECU setup converted to an OBD I setup that can then be ROM tuned. PITA!!

well, should any of this actually happen, i'd stick with the ka, swap the intake mani, rebuild the auto tranny to burninate some tires (rather than just sucking), put some forged crap in the block, and turbo it like whoa. (probably a t3/t4... haven't decided on specs yet...) and hopefully run 11's. i guess the 98's were obd2 as well? thats kind of a pain in the ass to have to convert to obd1...
