Default SR guru's need advice

Car is 91 240
SR20 swap

weird thing....fuel pump nor car will turn on with EGI pump relay in the fuse box on the passenger side

changes with a new relay..still the same thing....

but if i stick a jumper wire in place of the relay the pump turns on and so does the car....

im thinking a short somewhere, but harness was done by a really good SR guy (Scott-Secret Services)

input help appreciated

Well to point out the obvious, the relay is probably not getting power to turn it on. It gets power(or ground...not sure which way that switch works) for the switched direction making is possible to put a jumper in there, but for some reason the other direction gets nothing.

Check with a test light to see whats going on in both directions to see if you possibly got a bad relay to replace it with. If not the case, it has to be either a bad connection, disconnected wire, or miswired. If it is one of these, just contact back scott and I am sure he will help you out.

I did your harness??

the only SR harness I have ever done is my own. i dont do wiring work for customers. Matt usually does SR harnesses for us. Jump the relay and bring it to the shop. if we did the wiring we will be more than glad to look it over for you to make sure it's ok.

thanks,

Scott

Default well....

Im not actually sure who did the harness....

My brother (Jason from Enjuku) sent the harness out to you...

Its a lil far for me to drive it out there and have u fix it ...hehehheh

Its really weird....the relay was making noises before when I would shut the car off like a buzzing noise but that went away...

I have put in a new relay and tried it and still nothing

The only way the EGI pump socket will work is if i jump it

Odd....got me stump like a tree log

this happened to my car a while back. didnt seem to be harness related. of course i skirted the issue and just wired the fuel pump to a relay activated by an in-cab toggle, but it can be triggered by an ignition power source if i wanted to (which ill prob do anyways)

this seems to be a common problem on S13's

My educated guess would be that a ground has come loose or a connection has gone bad. Its not that hard, there's only a few wires involved. I'll pull out the FSM(s) when I get off of work. Stand by for response.

Blk/pink (or possibly blk/purple) is the wire that switches ground for the fuel pump relay. It runs through F10 which hangs out by the battery. I'd check the connection there. That's likely the problem. A buzzing relay means that it isn't getting enough juice to close. That implies a loose connection.

hell yes. i wasnt goign to spend hours upon hours hunting when my battery is right next to my fuel pump. ill just set up a new fuel pump circuit

remove a relay; add a relay.

hahahahah
