Default made a lot of ground this weekend. almost running

it first started off as a blown head gasket back in the begining of december. i could have just replaced the head gasket and done a radiator flush, but noooo i had to do everything else. now an s14 Fluidine radiator, Moroso overflow, dual FAL fan, cai , milled & ported head , removed egr system, relocated battery, tranny cooler, nismo powerbrace, relocated vaccum hoses, relocated fuel lines, tucked away enjector wires, and 2 exhaust cams later shes almost ready to run.

just have to connect all the wires & hoses, make one more bracket for the radiator and one for the over flow, flush the block out, make 2 egr block plates, finish the intake, and change the oil and tranny fluid.

mind you FBE and I only worked on my car on weekends under the darkness of night with only one flood lamp, but it all went fairly easy.

im so eager to get it running. should be done by next sat night. hopefully there wont be any bugs or anything like that besides throwing codes for the egr missing. what would be some things that i should check for before i crank it for the first time in 2 months?

oh yeah i will have pics of the engine in and out of the car as soon as FBE emails them to me.

mmm Na Ka

cost me roughly $1525 and two nickels. that includes a bunch of other small stuff i had to get like hoses rad. flush, anitfreeze, etc...
and only about $120 of it was for actually fixing the car.

but the tools i bought during this little project cost me around $2000.

hey mattback what all do you have removed on your ka? Im tryin to remove as many worthless vaccuum lines as possible. Ive been told all that you really need is the brake boost, FPR, IACV.

only things you need are (for n/a KA24DE):

-IACV
-IACV secondary sensor (i forget the name at the moment)
-Vacuum sources for:
--fuel pressure regulator
--brake booster
*Some say the PCV (which has FOUR returns on the KA) is still needed and need a vacuum source, but its known that people are running with it open vented or to a catch can. I will probably keep mine, but ditching everything else. You can also bypass the throttle body coolant lines (excellent sources of coolant for a water cooled turbocharger). Be sure to weld up or plug/cap everything else, no one needs pesky vacuum/boost leaks.

Mine is currently ghetto rigged because its a time consuming deal to pull the manifold (need to drain coolant, gotta get new paper gaskets or use RTV blah blah blah). I'm thinking im going to get my spare manifold welded up and etc and grind off the unused tabs, Russ style.
