Smile The Story of my Car.

Ok I must admit it, sometimes i street race =(. You see, i used to own a 1990 nissan sentra XE... It was a 1.6 sohc 90 horsepower piece of crap. My friends decided that it would be a good idea to rice it out ( Note: the car was absolutely mint, perfect paint, no dents, crystal clear lights, AC immaculate interior, PERFECT ) which I regret doing. The purpose was to mock rice, kind of a slap in the face to fwd winged cars. So we slapped a V-racing wing on it, a 3A racing Muffler, Tri-Star Primes, sprayed the Grill Red, and threw Barely Runnin' Motorsports on the back window... Needless to say, people didnt get it, and started telling me my car looked great. Many would decide to race me even after i didnt reply to their revs. After a few months i got sick of it.

At the time i was Living with my friend in St. Pete with my friend Joe Davis ( he owns a black 240sx, not at all riced out, and its a coupe. ) I really wanted to drop in the infamous SR20DE-T ( 235 hp 2.0 Turbo nissan sunny/gti-r motor ) but after alot of research i found that it would be a massive amount of cash to fabricate custom motor mounts, tranny mounts, convert to a manual etc... etc....

So I started looking for a new car, I did some research on Sentras, i really liked the car, it was reliable, comfortable, and it wasnt a Honda ( no offense, its just everyone in my town only does hondas. I wanted to go against the flow ) So I stumble across this Sentra on the internet called the SE-R, read up on it hoping it at least runs 17s... 15.8 1/4 stock, 2 door, 5-speed, Limited Slip, Sport Suspension. And it came with an SR20DE ( non-turbo version of the motor I desired, but the turbo motor would bolt right up to the transmission and mounts etc. ) I knew exactly what i wanted now.

So that night i talked with my friend about the car that i wanted, sounded like a good idea, but what are the chances of actually finding this car for sale in the Tampa area, its quite rare!
The next night we are headed back from downtown St. Pete to his house, My friend spots 2 1986 Toyota Corollas for sale out in front of this buy here, pay here dealership. ( RWD AE86 )
We make a u-turn and go check it out, walk up to the cars, peer inside, Both Automatics =(. We both turn around to look at the rest of the junk and we see something familiar in the back of the dealership under a tree... Walk up to it... A red 1991 Nissan Sentra SE-R!

The Very next day we go back to the car lot to talk to the dealer about the car, it turns out that the head is blown on the motor, that was ok tho because I still had every intention on buying it, so I ask him how much it would be as is, expecting the price to be around 1,000.00.... 400 bucks. 5 minutes later im on the phone calling a tow truck to come tow it to the house. A month later I move back to sarasota, with the car on a flatbed bound for a mechanic, the head was blown indeed, so I sat the car in the driveway preparing to save up the money to fix it, that never happened, i couldnt get a job that paid good.

2 Months go by, im hurting very badly for cash to pay bills, I had to sell it. some people that really wanted it drove up from Miami to pick it up, i sold it for 800.00, but decided to hang on to the cash and save even more for a perfectly working se-r, i wasnt going to give up! about a month goes by at my wonderful 7.00 an hour job drive-thru convenience store and a customer rolls up, I look over and what do I see, a 1994 sentra SE-R. So I ask him about it, yea its an se-r. I asked him if he would sell it for 2,000.00 He said yes, so we exchanged numbers, turns out he lived in my neighborhood. So i go take a closer look at the car the next day ( even tho i still only had 800.00 ) didnt look too bad, and it ran great. So i tell the guy id like to buy the car, but ill need to save up the money, no problem he says its not going anywhere.

6 months go by, a good friend of mine moved to New York and left me his car for FREE, a 1992 Geo Storm GSI ( 1.8 Liter DOHC 135 hp Isuzu Engine ) The SE-R is still on my mind, so I decide im going to sell both of my cars and buy the SE-R for 2 grand! A couple of days go by and im about to put both of my cars in the paper to get the money for the SE-R when my brother comes over, Bro:"Yo Eric remember that Black Sentra you wanted?" Me: "yea what about it?" Bro:"well the guy stopped by the house today, he said he lost his job, and he really needs cash to make a payment on his House, and If you can come up with 800.00 he will sell it to you for just that much." I didnt say another word, I grabbed my keys, jumped in the car, and went to his house, 5 minutes later im walking out with the title. The next day im driving my new car home =) Time to sell my 2 other cars!!!

Thats the story, sorry its so long!

Nice story. I'd definetely ditch the tri-spoke wheels on the new SE-R, but other than that, very nice!

yes the tri-stars have to go, the day i got my SE-R i was going to sell the xe and buy new rims and tires for the se-r. I made the mistake of letting my brother borrow my car, when i got home that night he told me that the car was messed up somehow so i went to drive my old car and sure enough he blew the transmission on it. I ended up fixing the transmission for 700 and selling the car for 1400 so i only made 700 dollars which went to rent, bills, a starter and a radiator for the SE-R. Just my luck =/
