Default I got a Boost Controller

Taylor at XAT installed my Greddy Profec b spec 2 on friday. There is a major difference in power now. I thought i was running good before but now it pulls hard. Big ups to Taylor and Shawn at XAT for another good install

On one hand, those things are cool, on the other hand, they're kind of funky. Very nice, being able to adjust boost from inside the cockpit.

I dig my TurboXS MBC. Then again, I am oldschool and don't like all of those electronic dimmywitchits controlling my ride.

Oh, and to be a total cheezeball like everyone else in this forum who kisses ass in here:

Well jeez, I didn't want to say anything about having a boost controller installed, but now that you mention it, it is a fairly simple job. I've helped with a profec-b spec ii install on an sr, it was simple as pie. We didn't even get the power lines with it at the time and I had to fabricate a power cord out of speaker cable. Some heatshrink on the stripped ends to make a nice temporary plug was all it takes to git'r'dun .

As far as manual boost controllers go, my personal favorite is my homemade 10 dollar ball-and-spring mbc. It was holding 16 psi just fine with 1 psi spike, can't beat that for 10 bucks. Didn't work so well on the sr we tried it on, though . Every other turbo car- works great, sr car- no good. How is your mbc working?

Mine works just fine actually, no complaints from it yet.

Ask Tony (user name Tony) on the board how well his el cheapo Home Depot style MBC worked on his Ecripse. Bang, FOOM!

IMHO, if you can install a car radio and have it function, you can easily do a MBC or a turbo timer. Not worth a "glory post" IMHO. The kissing of shops asses should be kept out of tech. That is unless you have some technical technique of kissing the ass which everyone should master. I like all of the shops involved, but this is out of hand. Thanks for reading.

Ah, yes, I've heard the story. I think Keith lost a boosted hybrid civic hatch to the same thing, iirc. I don't remember the details. My solution has been to crank my jam nut down to the point where I have to strain to back it off. I splurged and actually bought a premade joe p. mbc to check out and now that I know its secrets of overboost resistance I don't think I'll have to worry about that in future mbc's.
