would it be worth the money to transplant the rx8 genesis engine into an datsun 510 and maybe fit the 6 speed tranny

 

why not just go 13b?
the only problem w/ 510's is that they weren't designed to handle massive hp. you basically have to change out the whole suspension, drivetrain, brakes.
so basically, is it worth buying a car to keep maybe just the chassis, or drive a car that was meant to handle <100hp?

Over here in australia, the 13b, 20b, sr20, and fj20 are popular choices for the 510. but I'll tell you it's takes more than just hp to be fast. btw, they launch like shit.

...yeah genesis is a line of Tomei crate motors. Datsun 510's have a cool factor, but my dad had one in the 70's and said it was a big piece of crap! If you wanted originality, I'd look at the Datsun 1600/2000 roadster.

There really good autox cars compared to drag cars, the sr20det throws off the weight balance though and kind of ruins the autox aspect.

This guy did a really clean job on his but I can't find his site anymore. It's rotary driven.

i think just knowing your car is one-of-a-kind, is worth all the hassle of doing shit like this...if u really wanna put that enigne in there...don't ask, just fucking do it, that would be so sweet. Personally i think 510's are some sexy little cars, but practicallity is also a main factor in a daily driven street car. Did u think about a KA? or just build up like an L16, L18, or even like an L28? Maybe ur obsessed with Wankle, i don't blame you, but in the nissan forums, we like nissan engines. goodluck with whatever u end up doing.
