ok, new question

Anybody around here got an S15 sr20 with the 6 speed tranny? Im wondering just how different the gearing is between them because Ive heard that just about any six speed reaches its top speed in 5th gear because theirs not enough torque to pull it in 6th in most cars. First is that true, second how fast could I go with this tranny.

 

first you'd have to build a car to get to this 500+ whp you speak of

from what i hear, if anyone actually buys a S15 motor, they usually swap the tranny out for a 14 5-spd....or at least i think that's how it was worded. I asked someone the other day because i wasn't sure about the specs. on the 6spd S15 tranny

i hit 172 few days ago

rpm/tire calculated. didnt take too long to there either.

 

Also if nissan trannys are anything like Toyota the effective gear change actualy makes the 6spd top out lower than the 5spd because of hte closer radtios . I dont know if htis is truwe with the S15 tranny though .

I dont remember how final drive factors in but it looks like the six speed would be slower anyway

have you ever installed one into a 240? If so, is it as simple as bolt on or will it take some custom fabrication or is it even possible into an s13 coupe?
