Default Fix / Tune it Day 12/13

All, I'm gonna help Rinku w/ his S13 at the shop. Need to know NLT Friday afternoon who wants in so we talk details.

Time & Location: MacDill AFB shop opens at 9AM and closes at 7PM.

Entry Info: I will sponsor 2-3 cars for entry on base. Drivers must have valid license and current insurance card. Those who are passengers are free to enter with sponsored individuals.

Stall Info: there's 16 full-service bays, 8 w/ lifts. All bays provide their own arsenal of air/hand tools. Special tools are available at the front counter.

Price: Lifts are $4hr and open bays are $2hr.

Misc: there are machines to test/refill A/C, balance and mount tires, alignment, paint booth, and some misc machining benches. ASE certified techs are on duty to assist you as needed.

Better to spend your $ learning how to do it yourself

Jesse

Default Interesting

If we were to go out there, how would we get on base? I might be interested in heading out there with Rink if for nothing else than to help him out.

For a while, the base was on Threatcon Alpha which I beleive is the highest level of security and wouldnt let ANYONE who didnt possess a vaild military id on the base even with a sponsor...but from what I hear its back to usual. If you have never been out there and like working on your cars, you'll love this place. It's almost every mechanics dream

FYI, they have drills but no sawzalls, dremels, die grinders. Just posting b/c I have to borrow one from a buddy for this Sat.

Jesse

PS - THREATCON ALPHA is the lowest security posture, that's the condition at this time. DELTA is the highest.

Its been SOO long...alpha, delta, omega.. Judge, you can get a job on the base, but I doubt you can get a job at the autoshop...they same people have been working there for years....probaly have better luck getting a job at the bowling ally

Helping people is too easy. Like I said, the more you save on doing things yourself, the more you have for other things in life(school, family, car). Besides, it's a great learning experience when you have a bunch of guys working on cars.

If I was really hardcore in helping out, I'd schedule workshops once a month w/ help from others and project cars:

Topics:
1. Brakes: preventive maint. (PM), pad/rotor swap, caliper rebuild, etc.
2. Transmissions: PM, removal, clutch/flywheel inspection/replacement, etc.
3. ECU/Electrical Troubleshooting
4. Tune-up/Life Cycle part inspection, removal, installation
5. Paint Booth Instruction
6. so on and so on

I'll give it some thought, perhaps we can could do it in between monthly Nissan meets.

Jesse
