My friend got a ticket the other day for his exhaust being to loud. He has a 96 ex civc with tanabe racing medallion exhaust. He said he was sitting at the light when a cop pulled up next to him. He said the light turned green and he slowly pulled forward (not wanting to get a ticket). He said the cop immediately pulled behind him and turned his lights on. The cop wrote him a ticket and then told him “this is my number one ticket I give out, and I never loose so don’t bother fighting it”. Does anyone know much about this statute and does anyone know how to fight it? All suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks

ermmm, this should probably be in free for all, but its a straight up ticket right? not fix it... you might as well just pay it man, its the consequence you get when you want a loud car...

yes the statue states it can not be louder then how it came from the factory.

if it came from the factory at 82db it can not be louder that that

Trick is they do not have a DB meter. Nor do they have the specs of the car on hand.

But i would pay the money and leave it alone its just a hassle. It no points because its a non moving violation

the statute says it cannot be modified from factory. thats what mine was for i just sold mine and put the stocker on til i find something more suitable like an e-cutout or a custom black painted 3". dont fight it you wont win

i dont bother cleaning and shining my exhaust, it gets dirty either way, and its less "bling bling" to the cops...no doubt it is still a fat ass coffee can just dangling there, but yeah try to keep away as much attention as i can...
