85 200sx? That's an S12! You've got either a CA20E or CA18ET (that's "T" for turbo). It should be fairly straight forward to do a CA18DET or SR20DET. I haven't seen any in person, but do a google search, there's plenty of info out there by people who have never heard of FA!

To have something that not everyone has?

I dunno, being unique is cool and all that, but to a point. So far, research seems to be the key. Weigh all the options and then proceed.

I believe those cars also came with the vg30e in the US. That might only have been the later years, though. I did a little bit of research, and you can find info on them, it's out there. It's just hard to find. Unfortunately all of my bookmarks from the last month were lost when my c: partition was corrupted by an unfriendly fsb multiplier, so I can't give you any links.

Another swap is the fj20et.

why? it makes things uber harder on yourself, and unless you've got the shop, skills, resources, and budget, there is no reason to try and buck the trend. tons of people have s13 now, but its easy to stand out in the crowd if you're skilled. much easier having 4-5 shops I can call on for help, parts, etc.

If you treat it like a trend and leave it like that, of course...all projects will be easier. Do whatever makes you feel good and whatever you enjoy driving.
