OK, so with all the SCCA races coming up, I want to monitor my engine vitals so I don't kill my car.

I'm going electric water/oil temp and oil press. I'm gonna get some SPWs b/c they're cheap and they'll do the simple job for less. No peak hold or fancy wiring but they're functional. A gauge is a gauge and for those elements, I don't need stepping motors or the above features.

Also, you think white face guages clash with a black interior center console? I'm gonna install where the climate control is. My SE cluster is white so I think it's OK...

Any thoughts, concerns, experiences?

 

gauges are gauges..that is correct. it only depends on how accurately you need to monitor your vitals. if you are ok being +/- 5 deg on coolant temp....or +/- 1 psi on boost then i say go for it. the better gauges usually have better resolution and accuracy.

 

Also, if you're overheating..........dont' wait till 210 degrees to pull over..........just pull over as soon as possible or around 200 degrees.........that will save you right there........i got autometer phantom series myself and they have saved me few times already.
