Default SPEC vs ACT clutches for SR20det applications

Out of curiosity, which do you prefer? Any drawbacks to one over another?

I was leaning towards the SPEC Stage 2 if I can find anyone locally who has one.

the puck clutches will hold much more power, but will be less friendly on the street, and less forgiving to the driver. I have a spec stage III disc with an HKS pressure plate, and its grabby as hell. It has broken in some, but I remember bumpins with Spec III disc/pp was still a little prone to chatter.

If you're gonna be daily driving, and your power goals for the near future are 300 or less to the wheels for a while, a spec II is a great choice. On the other hand if auto-x, drift, and/or higher hp outputs are your goal (and non-daily driver duty), then a stage III would be fine. Honestly I couldnt see the need for more than a stage III unless you're in the 400+whp range.

Thats what Ive gathered so far, im sure matt or scott will give you a solid answer though. good luck whatever you choose.

Being as honest with my goals as I can be, I expect no more than 300 hp in the near future. The car will see daily driving until I can pick up a real beatR. It might see an occasional auto-x or drift session, but no regular thrashings.

Anyone know of any local places to pick up either? No car is no fun.

Spec clutches are nothing like ACT. event he ACT street clutch has a VERY heavy clutch pedal. the spec clutches have a very light pedal feel that is perfect for driveability...and they still hold more TQ!!

Bah, it is going to be together today, the nearest SPEC is 1-2 weeks away. At least I can budget for a flywheel, clutch and shifter and do it right.

I drove bumpin's car w/ the spec 3 clutch, a little chatter, but still, i'd highly recomend that clutch. The whole feel of the clutch was good for all around driving.

I have never driven a nissan with an act clutch, so i can't say anything on their part.
