fuel/ignition support opinion KA-T
yah yah i change my mind more than some people do their underwear but this weeks flavor is mild ka power. not sure of power goals wanted, but say something that would probably start out at ~250 to the wheels and in the end probably shooting for as close to 300 as possible while maintaining a conservative a/f ratio. lag is irrelevant in this. so how does this sound:
-walbro pumpomatic
-unstable hybrids top feed rail
-50 lb/hr (525cc) top feeds
-sard or aeromotive fpr with cute mini gauge
-z32 mafs
-ngk sparks
-msd 6btm
-apex s-afc2
-profec b2 (irrelevant really, but displays boost since not listing boost gauge)
-egt gauge
-oil psi gauge
-intercooled t3/to4e, stock ass 100k KA. my tial is .45 bar, aka 6.5 psi, definately not upping boost til assured tune is good and paranoia is gone.
things to note: unstable hybrids rail and 50lb'ers come as a package for $430 and includes connectors to wire up (high impedance so no resistors needed right?). this is easier to setup than tomei/nismo/denso sidefeeds that would drop and connect in, simply because its a deal for the UH equipment and seems easier to run the aeromotive or sard fpr. the stock one could be used if going with just injectors, but i figure to have as many aspects of tunability adjustable to make the tuner's job easier by having more things to fine tune.
z32 maf, pump, s-afc2 are self explanatory
what alot of people dont run is the msd 6btm. reading the description off of jegs and msd site, btm seems best for this application, but i really dont have much clue when it comes to choosing and ignition system, but this seems right. alot of ka-t guys are running just hacked mafs or z32 mafs with retarded timing, but its sketchy at times, esp like with like temps and etc
other guys run jwt but i'd like to not run jwt if possible (unless someone learns to reburn them or starts rom tuning KA ecu's in the future)
discuss/opinionize
please also note, ecu is 97 now but if i find 95 ecu soon i will be obd 1 converting and putting my 95 manifold on with deleted egr and charcoal can and all that stupid crap that nobody likes. jwt only deals with ecu's up to 96, though converting is only a few wire switches.

Dan, let me know if you really want my '95 ECU. People from Maine to Hawaii are asking for it.
I myself don't like my JWT, AFC2, AVC-R setup. I'm gonna start doing research on the Power FC, especially if anyone has one on a KA.
I dyno this Friday with the setup and hope to max out the 370s without a hitch. I'm more about efficiency than power so I'll be looking into cams and cam gears next.

Also, give me a call when you start working on the manifold, I'd like to help out. I like your ideas of cleaning up those lines. The less the better!
I removed the charcoal canister and it sure did clear up some space and weight

I know your current ecu is a 97, but just be patient and convert..

yes exactly my point, i will be picking up most of the items but i will leave out the s-afc/msd box til the end since i will probably be finishing up having most of the parts hopefully jan/feb time so we'll see. im also willing to be guinea pig for KA SSPL ROM tune, if i get done by march or so. :-\
jesse yes i want the 95 ecu, and it would be cool to work with ya again, but i need someone there whose done the wire switches for obd2>obd1 and knows exactly what to do with the misc sensors and which ones to keep and delete (i know i need the iacv but theres small things that arent labeled that i nee to know about) so im trying to get brian (orion) g'ville to come down or maybe go up to him [and i cant go this weekend - he'd be too busy since hes working the event]. i also need throttle body, and the 2 intake manifold gaskets since the paper ones on my old motor and manifold are shot.
jesse what time you dynoing? pm me if u dont want it to be public knowledge i'd love to swing by tomorrow and watch, and likely pick up some parts off that parts car i guess too.
for others, i forgot to take pictures of the stuff i took off already but im going to mock it up and hopefully try to do a writeup to show all the bullshit you can take off and converting to obd-1, currently searching to see if anyone else has done it yet.

You don't REALLY need the 2 intake manifold gaskets, buy some 700 degree copper gasket. The tube's like $5 and it's holding ALL my exhaust components together. Actually, the paper exhaust gaskets blew pretty quickly. I'll bring the tube tomorrow.
I'll be there around noon and start tuning around 1PM. Call me if you want me to bring the ECU.
