Default Driveshaft?????

ok heres the deal, i know the clutch is in the best overall condition no grinds, etc. shifts smooth as hell thru the first 4 gears no problems, but when i get to 5th it shifts fine but it vibrates while im in 5th and if i accelerate it gets a little louder , i dont know if the driveshaft is cracked or what could be causing this, i might be able to provide a pic of the driveshaft as soon as i can use a camera , mostlikely tomorrow....please help

thanks, jason

I've experienced it before, when I swapped an SR. It would only smooth out at 80+ in 5th gear. The tranny fuild was changed (put in synth originally, synchros didn't like it), and it doesn't rumble until 2k rpms now. Maybe I put too much fluid in before, i dunno. Two and a half quarts at Jiffy Lube fixed it right up.

For argument's sake in this case, we'll just say that the KA and SR trannies are similar enough!

ok here is one for you guys doing sr swaps... 300ZX's have a balanced 2 piece shaft just like a 240. When doing a swap mark the damn shaft since you are disconnecting it in the middle. Just disconnect your driveshaft in the center and turn it 180 deg around. They can only go 1 of 2 ways... you probably have it exactly opposite. this actually doesn't make a difference on 99% of the cars but I've had 1 300ZX and 1 240SX I've worked on where this was exactly what happened.
