How much (estimate) would a vg30 swap into an 89 z31 cost. He doesn't know what kind of numbers he wants but prob around 400 whp my friend already has the car he's just tryin to figure out if he should sell it & do an sr20 or go with the vg30, he just doesnt want to be in a slow car nemore.

Anyway, what kind of VG does he want? Vg30et would be the easiest/cheapest swap and could get him to his HP goals.
If you want a vg30dett out of the 2nd gen 300ZX's get ready for your wallet to be raped. I don't even want to think of what the total would be from buying the engine and swapping/fabbing that eninge into a Z31
Would he be doing the work him self? That would save him alot of money that could go towards mods or my latest facination, power tools

 

its easier to use the VG30 thats already in there.. mattback knows all about these things, he helped my Z31 make 357 rwhp at 14 pds.... Too bad i was leaking more than 1/2 my exhaust energy out of various leaks and holes in my exhaust manifold. prob coulda made a lot more in the end..

 

yeah, vg30dett has been done, they look nice whan done right, but it`s mad money, time and energy. you really gotta be a shop or a real pro to do it. the et engine will handle a shit load of hp, since it`s the same block, and even more if you put in tt rods and pistons (just picked some off of ebay for 30 bucks. SCORE!)
