Default axles

Heres the deal i was driving my Maxima a few days ago and i hit a good size bump down some back road. The second i hit the bump my car started to free rev. None of my gears would work? I had my dad come and help tow the car home. I finally had time to look at it today and it looks like i fucked my axle and some other bracket up. I need to know what the hell this break would be called and where to find it. The car is a 96 maxima SE i believe without ABS. How do i find out if the car has ABS or not. I told my insurance company that i do have it for better rates but i belive it doesnt have it.

damn...was it on a city street? you can sew the city for damage to your car if it was...my bro bent his rim on a pothole, and they gave him like $300 even though it was a $600 rim.

go to a junk yard and get that bracket, put a new axle in if your old one is bad and call it a day. there will be a ring around the inside of your brake rotor or possibly on the outside of your axle with a bunch of studs sticking up (almost looks like a small gear) if you have abs.. ill try to find a pic so you can understand what im talking about.

here is a pic of the abs ring on a gm. If you have one f these on your axle or your brake rotor you have abs. if you don't you do not have abs. i almost positive it should be on your axle if you have it (it usually is with fwd cars).
