u have 3 options:

-appeal in court (not worth it for a petty thing like this)

-fix it, meaning put the stock exhaust back on, show the officer at the station, pay the $5 fee and $4 court/etc fee or whatever it is. then take it home and put the n1 back on and just be cautious where you put your foot in it.

-pay the $46 fine like i did and just be cautious.

i got pulled because he saw it not heard it, it was a saturday night. he said to me it didnt matter on sound, if it didnt look stock, he was pulling you, period. i havent been hassled in seminole/orange/polk or hillsborough county but pinellas got me. hillsborough might on certain saturday nights though when they do details on street racing and such and they're looking for anything to pull you over for (its also probable cause to search and check for drunks and druggies).

some things to get around this are:

-run open downpipe with a cat and leave the stock muffler on, sometimes the cops wont mind if your not ragging on it theyll see the stock muffler and just figure you have a leak, and if they ticket you for that, you can appeal that in court and say you have the stock muffler on (just put the stock pipe on if you appeal it in case they want to look under the car).

-paint the n1 black. i would do this but im going to sell mine eventually and that would detract from the selling price, esp since i dont have scrapes (yet).

-get a 3" cutout, or better yet a quicktech electronic cutout (switched in cockpit) and have it put on, then you can run your stock exhaust for the sleeper look around town and the quietness and when you are racing or at the track, flip the switch and basically run open downpipe. this is my plan after i get turboed, since right now the quicktech is like $300 damn.

-get a stock looking dual tipped muffler and paint it black, with a 3" opening and 3" piping, custom made. my other alternative is to use a 3" inlet and outlet magnaflow straight through muffler. its got one tip and i will paint it black and have a bullet muffler put in the piping to act as a resonator. same results as the n1, half the price, no attention. cops usually seem to ignore these as per my conversations with some guys.

damn...what the hell city is this in because i have the loudest exhaust i've ever heard on a N/A KA24e and cops don't do anything but check out the ride.

-heheh yeah you will most likely see me everyday in the local clearwater streets, i still have that dp & cat waiting for you on track night...
