Default Possible Alternater blowout.

OK... shortened version (failure on last posting attempt)

brake light and battery light are illuminated.. I think i blew the alternator up somehow. The brake light i'm guessing is the fact that i have no power brakes without an alternator???

anyhow tell me what ya think

This really blows

Can you start the car at all?
If the car starts up, you can check the voltage across the alternator itself with a multimeter..

Ok, Check the voltage across alternator and also the voltage across the battery terminals. If your alternator is bad, your alternator voltage will tell you. This can be confirmed when you test you battery voltage. If battery voltage keeps going down, it means your alternator is not charging.

When this happens, you need to check the fuse in the engine compartment relay box. There are two big fuses, 75A and 100A, make sure they are both good. If they are both good, your alternator is toast. Time for a replacement
