Default Help with TEIN FLEX on S14

Hey ALL,

My driver and passenger side front coilover needs to be tighten from the top a little. Problem is that the whole shaft moves when i do that, so i can't just tighten from the top.

I need to somehow vicegrip the shaft and tighten the top.....but its not advisable to vicegrip the shaft obviously........any other way to tighten this????

I had the car on jack stands when we tried to do this as we put on SS brake lines and TC rods today. That's for another thread to come with pics.....

You think i can tighten it with the car on ground, maybe with the load on the car on the ground, the shaft won't move when i tighten the top nut???? or am i off base?

When i go over bumps.......i hear sound from the strut....relating to this being lose obviously......Driver side is worst than passenger side......

i looked at the manual online and it hints that that the spring must be compressed and than you hold the collar underneath and than tighten the top nut (43.4-57.8 lb-ft.)

Not sure on this, but sounds realistic.....i may have to go to the shop for this...

On page 9 of the pdf manual online at tein.com.

It's referred to as NUT (PMP-03-91022-F) and says Request Tight Torque (43.4 ~ 57.8 lb. ft)

Any ideas fellas?
Here is the manual

Default Well...

In theory the distributed weight of the car should be enough to hold it in place, while you tighten it. 2800lbs distributed over 4 points is some what substantial.

Might as well give it a shot, and if it doesnt work just take it to a shop and they can lock it in place and do it.
