Default Infiniti G35 Turbo Build By HMS

This car was sent down from Brooklyn, New York, For us to do a single turbo upgrade the car was previously superchagerd but the gain were minimal & and was low on the efficiency scale.

We're working with strict time constraints so let's get started!

Some goodies came in!

Now We have the intercooler mounted we can run our piping, but first ; SOME MORE GOODIE CAME IN!

Garrett gt3582r T3:

The New Precision 46mm wastegate:

Kinetix SSV intake manifold:

Went ahead and did the fuel system:

Walbro 255 lph fuel pump was added:

fuel sending unit was modified & pump added:

New fuel damper line:

Siemen Deka 630cc injectors:

So we began removing the stock manifold:

After all of that, And finally being able to access the injector, out with the old, in with the new.

Then some new plugs while in there , a bit cooler on the heat range or at least hoped for.....

Well back to the piping, It's a daunting challenge fitting 3" IC piping in this vehicle it's very tight & nissan used every square inch, so some things will need to be relocated.

Almost Complete IC-to-TB piping . Just need to cut at some point to add a coupler in for some stress relief, blow off valve, & weld when everything is set in place.

Very happy on the way it turned out thus far, no turbo kit on the market "to our knowledge" for vq's offers complete 3" piping & and even the kits that have smaller diameter tubing still has a much more restrictive paths

Complete cold side charge piping.

So we'll pick up with getting the turbo manifold piping installed, 'this is no attempt to brand bash' however we have to be honest, this was suppose to be a turbonectics kit, however for some reason absolutely nothing fit. everything was modified, I'm not saying that if you order a turbonectics kit it won't fit just our luck.

Had all types of problems with the y-pipe not fitting, most of the problem was in the u-pipe being off: this is how much we modified it.

The up-pipe was off aswell, again you can see the modifcation.

Making of the custom crossover pipe:

Finished Custom made cross over pipe:

Everything all done & heat wrapped:

Up-pipe with wastegate:

Extra up-pipe brace added:

Up-pipe installed w/heat wrapped and finally fitting, new a/c line also installed pictured here:

Getting all the lines, fittings etc. together:

Turbo mounted, fittings/lines made & installed:

While all of this was going on, we decided to surprise the customer and give it a Hybrid touch, by painting his intercooler piping pearl white to match the vehicle:

(paint, base coat white, black hybrid motorsports decal, pearl clearcoat seal)

Maf bung welded in, not bolted like turbonetics ic piping kit, this was done to aid in eliminating possible leaks:

The piping is a very tight fit due to large size, so our blow off valve was left homeless in it's normal ic piping position & the fact that it was paint wanted to keep a clean look, So:

now that we have our turbo in place we did turbo-to-intercooler piping short & efficient (also 3")

Wow! This was bye far the trickiest downpipe that i've built, Installs like a corkscrew, The turbonectics kit has a two-piece setup but wanted to keep cost down (with v-band sets going for $70 a pop) and so it won't have to be serviced i.e loosen up we decided to opt for with a one-piece configuration.

Heat wrapped:

Installed:

Then Moved onto the custom built mid-pipe with supporting brackets:

Installed, you can see the flex pipe, wideband senor bung, 2 stock bungs & transmission brace in this picture, going into stock exhaust right before the stock resonator.

Close up on tranny brace, Used 2 mounting points to reduce it from loosening on a pivot:

Please excuse, some photo are missing (like p/s reservoir relocation, fuel pump installation, catch can relocation, etc.) and are in the process of being tracked down there is more to the thread that will be updated at a later date. thank you.

At this point the vehicle was able to start, So we vacuumed & recharged the a/c system at this time.(all good)

Almost Done:

Wouldn't it have been easier and less pipe to run a 1 side intercooler, and come up through the core support? I mean the pipes cross over the turbo right before the TB anyway.
