Definitely sounds like the same guy and the same car. Either he's telling the truth and his son abandoned it for a jeep when he went to college, or he's really good at keeping his story straight. Fact that the tires had zero tread wear yet were over six years old and dry rotted from just sitting there has me thinking more and more that the guy was on the level, despite the somewhat less than trustworthy used-car-salesman thing he had going on.

Eh, it's not so bad. After it's back from the shop, it's small things like a hesitant power window, cleaning it, making some sense out of the stereo wiring. A bit of neglect over a few years that can be fixed with some tlc.
