ok.. my boy was driving down the street and he hears a Clanking noise and then a loud pop and a few minutes later the car shuts off and won't start back up. Any ideas on that may be? 98 gst

found out that it was the timing belts

 

i was about to say, that sounds just like how mine did right before i discovered i had the walk....if he needs another head, let me know, i have one for sale

 

ok.. this is the situation, he took it to get looked at, they said it was the timing belt, replaced it and still won't start. guy said that it was a valve . but the car would still start if it was the valve right? any ideas?

 

um...dude...dsm's are interference motors, if he broke a timing belt, he most likely bent some valves, and isn't getting compression in 1 or more cylinders, which could have a hand in the car not starting
