well since this is our... temp board/thread.... till it gets back up. Im gonna share the news. look at car #2 in the sig. it arrived Monday. im happy as hell.

also Tom.... i got your axles out... I finally finished off my 90 GST today and its sitting on a dead compressor and 2 spare tires. no wheels no suspension, no interior... all stripped. hehe.

does anyone know what the problem with the board is? is there something the TBDSM members can do? can we offer to host it somewhere else? When you choose your DSM over your crack habit..... and we are all in withdrawl.

John still takes care of things for us but from what I understand the board has been moved to a different server and awaiting a dns update. If it takes as long as last time the site might be down for a while, whoever does the dns update is frekin slow!!

James, yeah can you beleive the car actually ran a mid 11, I don't think I even had it together last time you where here. If it wasn't for the lower ic pipe blowing off on that run after shifting to 4th it probably would have been a lower 11 at 120+mph. Oh well, the car is coming appart again, GVR4 1st for the tranny & some new bearings while the engine will be getting rebuilt with new rods & forged pistons, .63 AR turbine housing for the turbo.

After getting the car ready for the last TR trackday a bearing in the tranny decided to kick the bucket so I figured I'd just rebuild everything right this time around and get silly with the car, hopefully break into the 10's, we'll see.

Well since the board went down my car got back on the road. No shit. Got everything done on it. Then the steering rack shaft that actually turns got stripped. Need a new rack or the other piece. Whatever one is actuallyu stripped. POS Felt awesome to drive again though.

happened to me in the conquest there's a metal colar that is attached to the shaft on one end with a rubber bushing mating it to the lower shaft that actual moves the rack. I ended up welding the two together. worked like a champ.

Sweet and shit...that' DSM's.

I had just finished replacing the wheel bearing and got an alignment. The brake shield was rubbing a bit so I pulled into a parking lot to bend it back a bit. I stop in the spot and start to turn the wheel full lock and I hear a noise. Weird. Bend the shield a bit and go to drive and the steering wheel just spins freely. Look at the junction of the column and rack and it's just spinning. There is a bolt that is supposed to be there and ride in a channel on the rack shaft. It was gone. I think the joint on the column slipped up and stripped out. I am actually hoping that's what needs to be replaced as I just got an alignment and I don't want to tear apart the suspension again.

I have a manual steering rack. If that's what's stripped and you have one I will take it off your hands.

It will be a while. I got it towed home, but it's nearly impossible to push into the garage when you can't steer, and have a welded center diff. I will probably yank the TCase just so I can push it, and put some vise grips on the rack shaft to steer? I dunno. Damnit.
