Default if u had 3k and a shell?? i am new to turbo help me out

i am thinking about making the jump over to a 1st gen awd talon/eclipse

afer i get a bare shell i have about 3k-3500

what all do i need and what is it gunna cost??

id prefere to build the block 1st with good pistons.rods.ect.
im not to worried about going that fast at 1st, im more concerned with being reliable.

i need to get a complete motor i can tear down and rebuild.
how much will a busted motor run?

what can i get for 3500??

the motor depends on who you get it from, the stock motor itself is decently strong, people are running mid 10's on stock bottom ends.

do you need like everything underhood?

if you just need the engine/tranny/ecu/etc pricing will vary depending on who you get it from but your looking at 800 give or take. so having 2500 or so left over you should be able to put it into low-mid 12's

16 pounds should be alright, you'll need to be able to supply more fuel, so you got to get a fuel pump and rewire it with larger 12V wire.

but reliability is always an issue, when i broke the valve, i was practically bone stock besides free mods. i could associate it with hard driving, but it just seems odd the way it happened...

lotta info there, helps keep things nice and simple.

You're better off buying a good used running 1G than trying to piece it together.

By the time you add up all the incidental parts, shipping if any, time running around, parts to rebuild the engine or tranny, etc, it will definitely run way over what you have budgeted to build the car.

Now if you just go throwing a used engine & tranny in there it can be hit or miss, the engine could be worn out, the tranny might grind after being installed, bascially unless you know what you are getting its still a big risk.

You buy a good used running 1G you can hear it run, drive it, check it out as a whole, do your mods and race it. At least you'll have an idea of what you have from the start without going through months of bs piecing the car together only to find something isn't right.

wtf are u talkin about?

i want to get a busted motor and REBUILD IT.

toss a stock turbo setup on it and ride out.

so for 3k i cant build a motor???

im not worried about spending mad money on bolt ons right away.

i just want a fresh block/head that i know havnt been abused.

i can build the block myself, and do all the work.

bearings/rings and shit will be 600-800 for a rebuild.

then 500 or so for a motor that dont work so i can have all the parts.

I am going to be doing something like that too. Another good place to check out is www.magnusmotorsports.com . It is a good place to check out for mad horsepower. Yeah you could just go to a salvage yard and get an engine in fairly good shape for about 800-1,000. Good look with your car.

Yeah you can build an engine for that but a "rolling shell" as you so put it implies you are going to need quite a few other parts.

If you think you know better fine, build it and ride out yo, I was just offering you some advice.
