Question Question to those who know = spun rod bearing in my 4g63t. Can i use a 4g63 block???

looking to see if its worth replacing my 4g63t bottom end with a 4g63 bottom end. I have done investigation on the topic through multiple forums. I know they bolt together just fine. The pistons have higher compression, there are no oil squirters, no knock sensor, turbo oil port on block pluged. I am willing to make any altercations necessary, im looking for imput on anyone whos done something similar. Or if anyone knows any other changes i would have to make to the block in order to reliably run boost on the 4g63 block. i am using 4g63t everything else (flywheel, clutch, tranny, head,IM,ecu, wiringharness, etc). Any imput will be appreciated!

You will need a turbo 6 bolt FWD flywheel and clutch if you do that. Maybe find out if the turbo pistons will hang on the n/t rods?

Why not fix your motor?

I am sure you could run 20 psi on them if you know what you are doing. but the point is its just plain stupid to run a non turbo block in a car that came with likely the best turbo block ever built. Years ago a couple locals ran non turbo blocks most likely because they got them free. They didnt last two weeks before they were blown. The very fact that some one is asking if it can be done suggests he in no way should attempt it. I think my post was good advice. and dont forget the key word in his question.

I ran an n/t 9.5:1 motor at ~300whp for 20k miles with no issues...motor rod-knocked 2 years later on its next owner, pistons are fine.

But yeah only cause I was broke and know how to tune a car.

Judging by your screen name and avatar, I wouldn't run anything that is not intended to be ran the way you plan on running it. I say no to the non turbo 4g63 block.

Now if you want to put turbo pistons in it and drill for squirters, I say go for it, you can even get by w/o the squirters if you don't plan to road race or do anything crazy. You can buy the turbo pistons from topline, trust me that's your best path.
