GST Pros/Cons
Alright...I think the timehas finally come....clutch just went out on my GSR and I think I'm going to replace it and then sell the car....I bought the car already modded....so I didn't have the fun of doing stuff myself....so now I'm lookin for a GST eclipse.....I found one that has 71k miles, totally stock, etc....for $6495....I was wondering are DSM's as unreliable as I've heard? I'm only in high school so a very high maintenance car wouldn't benefit me.....although if they require extra care...that wouldn't be a problem...as long as stuff does not keep breaking....I also wanted to know the performance potential of the car...I've seen Hahn Racecrat turbo systems and the like...and was wondering what are some good tuners for eclipses/talons....also..do you guys know of any websites where I can learn more about mitsu's? I've kinda been a honda boy since a young age...so DSM's are pretty new..Thanks in advance!!

yeah....if you just have to maintain the car well and use common sense..I'll be fine...I'm just asking if there are any parts that will break...no matter if you take good care of the car or not..because I've heard dsm's are reliable

not much you can do about crankwalk, it either happens or it doesn't, although the amount of cars that it happens to is blown way out of proportion, take a look at www.dsm.org, that should clear some things up for ya

basically just read up on dsm.org for info, and once you've gone through it, go through it again, ive read a great deal on that site and still havent had everything sink in. also read up on stuff at tbdsm too, there is some good information there as well. as for reliability, thats basically on you, and the condition of the car, if your afraid of crankwalk dont get a 2G (in my opinion i like the boxed out 1G's anyway) i have a laser rs-x (awd model incase u havent heard of it) and i somehow fucked it up, normally driving and i lost cyl3...but hey, like any other car, things will happen, just make sure u have some backup funds or a spare car incase something is to happen. and you can pick up a 1G awd for 1/3 of that 2G
as for tuning, some of us will play with some settings ourselves, but there is a database of AFC settings on dsm.org that are used for a starting point, but i hear Secret Services is a good tuning place. but you wont want to tune it till you've done some work.

I have an idea, if you know nothing about DSMs SHUT THE FUCK UP!! Especially CronicBurn, you don't seem to know anything about anything and yet you insist on sharing all your useless and/or incorrect knowledge with everyone.
DSMs will typically run forever if you don't abuse them. I am very satisfied with mine. I have had very few problems for the abuse I have put my car through.
I don't really think there is a major point of failure that all people experience. Most people get different problems from different abusive actions. I didn't break anything but a clutch until I was running 12s. Then I started braking driveline parts, axles and transmission(first one was my fault, and the second wasn't until I was in the 11s). Other than that I have had no major problems.
