Default First Evo Build Thread: 2.4 Long Rod w/ Foward Facing HTA 3794 on E85 (Tons of Pics)

So being that this is my first build thread I will try to be as detailed as possible, hopefully I do not leave anything out but please ask any questions you may have! As the build progresses I will update the thread

Why a 2.4 Long Rod? Well I wanted to try something new, I love torque and love the fact that I can spool quicker on the motor.
What Compression Ratio? I am going with a high compression 10.5.1 motor on E85. I think this combination will be ideal for a well-rounded powerhouse.
What Internals? We went with the Manley Turbo Tuff I-Beam Rods and Manley Pistons, the block was clearanced - Stock crank was balanced and polished with ARP Mains to bolt it all together

First things first - Here are some shots of the motor out of the machine shop:

The block was hand washed after bringing it back to the shop:

Prepping with Bearings and Studs:

Some Shots Before/After the Pins are Installed And Having Some Fun

Apply More Sauce and Connect

All In! (That's what she said)

Prior to the motor being done we went ahead and began making the water pump gasket here is the weld mod rather than spacer:

Assembling Front Case

2.4 longrod? 2.0 4g63 crank in a 4g64 block with special length rods? That bottom end will safely rev to 9.5k+ rpm's!

No this block is retaining the 4G64 crank actually. The longer rods will allow safely to rev higher in the long run but to keep it in one piece you actually want to shift this motor around 8200 or so RPM. With the lower end torque, plus the E85 I will gain almost 1000rpm off spool time and with that turbo I need it!

Just be careful, Miguel had 12.5.1 CR on a 2.3 stroker and god himself couldnt build a transmission to withold the 500ft lbs of torque at 3k rpms.

This is 10.5.1 and the bigger turbo will allow the torque to come in higher so I will be fine there. I just had the tranns rebuilt to, so we should be fine. I dont plan on launching all over the place either.

Where are you getting your e85 from? I bought Bosch 1600cc's with plans on running it. My cousin can get 55 gallon drums of it for like $2 a gallon or something like that. I might just go that route and me and him will split it and buy a drum per/month. Alot cheaper than pump gas, and for a good meth setup its $700+.

I would be interested in doing the drums thing myself if possible. There are a couple gas stations in the Orlando area.
