Default battery cable connection to wiring harness

So in the process of reassembling my project car, I've found myself wishing I had a visual as to what goes where. Sometimes diagrams just don't help. If anyone knows of that site that has the visual aide to what goes where that would be great.

That being said....I'm needing to connect the battery wire harness to the engine wiring harness so I can get power to everything but I have no idea where I'm supposed to connect the wire to.

For clarification, I am not trying to figure out how to connect a battery. I know how to do that.

Can I get a picture of your set up or something? Clueless here.

Not really sure what youre talking about here. You have a wire you need to tie into the battery post? Just get a ring terminal.

Or do you mean where do all the wires go? There should be a charging wire from the alt to the fusebox/battery. Then you need a ground from the battery to the firewall, and one from the battery to the starter bolt. I also have my intake manifold grounded to the battery but thats not necessary. I think factory it just has a little strap to the firewall.

I'm going through this same dilemma. I have a black/yellow wire and white and black wire coming from starter wiring harness. Also I cut my knock sensor wire on accident being in a rush and can't find the plug for it, and everywhere online says its a 2 wire plug and 1 wire sensor? confusedd

are you trying to plug the dash harness into the engine harness? are both harnesses from a 90' car or 92-94' car? they have to match

It's a 96 TSI AWD. I'd like to figure out where I connect this

to something in here so I can get my wiring out of the way.

you're better off bolting it to the starter. easier for installation. its a pita to bolt them to the starter in the car.

Lemme re-phrase this. I'd like to get power to the car now without the engine being in just so I can move the driver's seat back as well as check things like the lights, sunroof, etc. I need to know how to get power to the car. I have the cables, so where do I plug in or connect stuff.

Uh ok Ill try. Looks like the two on the right side of the picture are for the starter. The red one is for the power. The one with the black plastic clip is for the solenoid. I think the other side of that wire just goes through the harness then comes out where you see it in the middle..right? So thats for the solenoid...That ground cable next to it is the starter ground. So ground it or dont worry about it. The left most red one is obviously the batt terminal...hook it up...and take those two 8ga white wires from the fusebox and run it to the positive terminal. As for that other wire coming out the left side, looks like that is the other side of the starter ground correct?

you dont need to hook up the starter harness at all to get power to the interior. lol. just hook up the power wire from the fuse box, and the ground ofcourse.
