iv got my car posted up for sale, i blew the diff out of my auto tranny 2 days ago. im having a very hard time finding an auto 4g tranny that isnt over 1000 buks, but i have found a couple hundred 5spd trannys for cheap including a wrecked gsx for 400 buks.

my car is a 99, how much of a pain is it to do the auto to manual convertion. i know on a honda (not compareing brands) you just need the manual parts, is it the same for a mitsu?

id much rather have a manual then the auto trans this is the second time this thing has gone out on me in 3 years, this time the tranny had 5500 miles on it.

any input would be great, thanks

^ not that simple, it took the back of the casing out too. i wish it was that easy, im just hoping it didnt kill my new axles that are only a couple days old

stay with the auto tranny, its stronger then the 5spd. there seems to be a problem, diffs dont usually give out that easy, theres a shit load of people runing low 9s and 8s on stock diffs. i recomend u chip ur tcu to increase line pressure.

heres what happend, i was going threw a light (yes it was green) i was at 5 psi and then the tranny just let out and the car reved as if it was in Neutral. i tryed letting off and back on nothing, tryed going into 2 or L and nothing, so irolled all the way down the road to a gas station, want to put in into park and it grinded bad all the way up ( P,R,N) when i was stopped. axles are all solid and not broken, i pulled the dip stick and there was metal on it.

No fluid leaks at all, when i was unloading the car from the tow truck it was leaking a bit, but sitting on the ground flat it leaks nothing.

 

theres a gst at teh scrap yeard. looked like a 96 or 97, motor was gone but tranny and everything is still there, is this possible to do?
