1g fuel sending unit.
I went to change my fuel pump today. I pulled the cover plate off and the entire sending unit is covered in rust. Now the car is a FL car. It is very old. 1992 Talon TSI AWD. I have inspected the car and haven't really found rust anywhere else other than the exhaust. this is an excessive amount. I cant figure out why there is so much rust here. The trunk doesn't leak and the sending unit cover isn't rusted nor is anything else in the trunk. Has anyone else had a completely rust covered fuel sending unit? I used PB blaster on the nuts holding it down. Took 2 off and the third one broke off so I stopped. Does anyone have sending unit for an Eagle Talon AWD 1G. I don't need a pump..But my high pressure fuel line coming out of the sending unit is also covered in rust. So the metal is now paper thin. i wont be able to unbolt the fitting. UGH! If I have to cut the fuel line what can I do to make sure I get the new sending unit connected so that it doesn't leak.
Shoot me a shared_pm if you have a sending unit. ty..
