I was always trying to convince a buddy of mine to do this to his race-prepped Talon. He already had a welded center diff and a 4-bolt rear, so it wouldn't have taken much. The hardest part is plugging the holes where the front axles go. As stated above, I think cutting the ends off of a set of axles and using them to plug the holes would be a simple solution. A better solution would be to CNC an aluminum "cap" that could just plug the hole.

The rear end and rear axles would be the weakest links in the equation. But a 4-bolt could probably handle the abuse...as long as you were under like 400whp and weren't using drag radials. (Maybe, lol)

What about the support to the front suspension with there being axles in the center hubs, thats what I was thinking would be a problem..

dont do it for a street car. there no weight in rear. it spins worse than FWD. and the axles break far more often than when splitting power to four axles. I drove nicks car when he had it done. It wasnt what we hoped.

you sound like you have done it?

reread what I said. a good freind did this. I approved and thought the car would be a fun as a drift machine. after we did it we were seriously disappointed. car just had no traction. anything over about 200whp just spun bad. there is about 700 pounds up front putting weight on a FWD car. in RWD mode there is about 200 pounds in rear. it spun so violently it broke axles. it was the farthest thing to being fun.

yes i have. it was a 1g with a evo iii 16g with supporting modes. Dont get me wrong it was easy to break traction but it was not like if you touched the gas it just spin. we took it in many parking lots and drifted around islands. the same car in rwd forum drove to new England and back. it was a very fun car!

You see I think that a 1G rwd given if it came factory rwd would have been a very fun car to drive. The body style of them fits that of a rwd by far.
