there are many reasons why a head gasket can blow, we need more info on your car before we can make an assessment.
Sometimes just the head gasket being old can cause it to blow.

its a blown headgasket.. have had a couple and didnt have any coolant going into my oil.. But anytime the car saw boost it would overheat..

your setup sounds pretty mild, it could have just been a old head gasket. when my head gasket blew I did not have any smoke out the exhaust either.
Are you going to be replacing the head gasket yourself?? I have always used felpro gasket with ARP studs. I like the idea of a $30 head gasket going out instead of a rod out the motor if something were to go wrong.
