Damn I'm trying to remember what i used to do, I'm pretty sure i used a flat head to pry on the tensioner pulley to get it to roll up. you need to get it to were the two holes on the pulley are facing up.

the hydrolic tensioner has to be compressed, there's a set of holes that will line up when you compress it. Take a small alan key and stick it threw the holes so that it keeps the tensioner from opening back up. now put the tensioner with alan key back on block.

now look at the pullie tensioner, you will notice two small holes on the outside of it make sure those holes are to the left of the center bolt holding that pullie. Now tighten that bolt holding the pullie just tight enough so that it keeps the holes from moving from there position.

now put your belt on and align everything....

now go back to the pullie tensioner with the holes and move them clockwise by pushing up with a small falthead, this will turn the pullie and tighten your belt, this is where not having that tool sucks cause you can over tighten or not tighten it enough, i usually go slightly looser than what i want cause the hydrolic tensioner will do the rest. now tighten that bolt holding the pullie tensioner and remove the alan key from the hydrolic tensioner.

hope this makes sense and if not shared_pm me.

^ good, you will need a bench vice to compress it. also you must compress it real real slow, allow time for it to go in slowly, dont force it.

So how tight is "too tight"? I might have to do this tooless as well...

like do you want it tighter or looser than say, an alternator belt?

are you asking how tight it should be before you pull the alan key or after?

Keep this in mind when trying to do this yourself for the first time.
If the belt is to loose or to tight you run the risk of destroying things like your head and oil pump.

The belt and new pulleys/tensioner are installed already. Everything is timed. All I need is something to use to tighten the tensioner pulley.

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 10:11 PM.
