and my wife had just put insurance back on it last week, but only P.I.P and P.D.L. so i get NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!
i have put about ten thousand dollars and the last three years into this car and it just tears me up inside.
10k in a car. might want to have more ins on it next time. unfortunately, even with insurance, you would not get anywhere close to that.
sorry for your loss man, i just sold my gsx today.. after owning it for 10 years

no offense but if you look at the initial burn marks on the hood, its right where the battery sits...im assuming a rat or rodent got up in there and got zapped or something and everything else just started to burn....this is why i typically relocate my battery to the trunk...atleast if it was in the trunk you could have salvaged the motor tranny and wiring harness....check out ur ecu, if the ecu is dead its likely your battery did start the fire.

i hear ya, but fire travels up, and the hotest spot on the hood is right behind the passenger headlight, the spot on the hood where the battery is right under still has paint on the hood,.
and where is the ecu under the dash right? i know there is a main and a secondary one.
the main fuse panel under the hood is completely gone.

the ecu SHOULD be behind the radio.

you can totally tell that the fire spread from under the hood. It is very unlikely that someone tried to burn your car, starting it under the hood. Chances are, you crossed wires somewhere. If it were arson, even the most dim witted person would know to start the fire near the more flammable material (seats, carpet, gas tank)
Sorry for your loss homie, but the flames are ironic and really funny. Be glad that it wasn't in your shop or near a customers car or something!
