Default Transmission install tips?

Any one have any idea how I am supposed to get this bitch back in there? Getting it out was hard enough...had to shake it around for an hour before I got it out.

I cant seem to get it far enough towards the rear of the car. It keeps hitting the mount for the lower control arm, and I can't seem to get it past that point. I left the d/s axle in when I pulled it...tonight I will try to pull that and reinstall...

Im about to just pull the whole motor and go from there...

Personally I like to use a engine lift to raise it back up till its just about high enough then muscle it on the rest of the way.

LMAO, this is why there are shops out there to aid you in automotive repair, and some for very reasonable prices.

Tip::: Get a small car jack, like your factory one or one out of a honda. Place the jack between the engine block by the oil pan and the other part on the k-frame. Jack the engine away from the firewall. This will allow the trans to easily slip right into place during install.

^laugh it up lol, there's a first time for everything. Thanks for the idea of another jack to maneuver it in place...

and if I had an engine lift I would've pulled the whole motor the first time, done a timing job/waterpump, put my cyclone in and change my exhaust gaskets...lol

thanks guys..I wish I had some friends that were even remotely competant in automotive repair.

the scissor jack behind the engine is the one thing that made tranny jobs a night and day difference on these cars.

Well I got it in! Spent about an hour and a half yesterday trying, and then about an hour today then I finally got it...

I think the issue I had was the jack I was using...it had a really small plate which made it hard to keep the trans from falling on me..

To get it in I pretty much put it in my lap while crouching, then crouch-walked it in from the side, tri-podded that bitch in place and then with one epic pelvic thrust I jammed it over the clutch. lol! went in much easier like that..

hopefully she drives tonight!

Just went threw the same crap with my auto and it still runs like crap. Im looking for a 5 speed swap right now. Good luck. Slide the trans under the car and lift it onto the jack then jack it in place and put a bolt through it. It took me two people to do it.

sucks you had to use a jack. engine hoist's seriously make it take a matter of minutes to go in.
