trannie question 1g awd with fwd option?

Default trannie question 1g awd with fwd option?
I bought a 1g awd a few weeks ago and found out that the trannie has a option for awd or fwd I tryed lookin it up and cant find anything on this trannie, question is this a good trannie and are thier any pros or cons vs the just awd trannie.

Its a JDM GVR4 switchable tranny. They are weeker than a regular awd tranny.

did those come with like a welded center diff from factory or something?
