I have been looking to redo my exhaust. It came with a carbon fiber muffler pretty much an ebay knock off i assume but i have an 01 eclipse GT spyder

My car comes with 2.5" exhaust piping so i don't feel like i really need to get a catback exhaust that is already the same size that i already have. And I have been told running anything larger then 2.5" would be pointless. So here are my questions.


1. Do i really need to buy a catback exhaust or could i just change the muffler out for something better?

2. Where would i find just a muffler?

3. Does anyone have a brand they recommend?

4. Since i already have 2.5" piping should i go larger?

Sorry guys this is my second mitsu but first 3g so i'm kinda lost on it. Any advice helps thanx everyone.

 

1. Your stock exhaust is press bent which limits flows in its bends while a mandrel bent exhaust keeps the same diameter piping throughout the whole exhaust system. It really depends on what you wanna do though because you're not looking at huge hp gains from switching to mandrel bent piping.
