Default Smoke from turbo area

I've had a smoking issue in the turbo area for while now. I kept thinking it was the turbo feed line. I just replaced it today with a ss line, I cleaned all the oil off everything before I drove it home, the car had no balls at all. It would spool up like normal but wouldn't go anywhere. When I parked I checked under the hood and the turbo area was smoking again, but no leaks on the feed line at all.

If a turbo has no side to side play, but a mm or 2 in and out play can it be bad?

+1 and also check for exhaust leaks. But if you're smoking and its not the turbo, could be other issues like rings or seals or a leak somewhere in the general area.

When I installed the feed line the back of the exhaust housing had a ring on it that looked 'wet' or darker than the rest of the housing.

When I blew my 60trim it had absolutely no up/down shaft play, but had about an eighth of an inch in/out play .lol I had oil practically spraying out of my exhaust, but had no oil on or around the hot side or o2housing. It was all still still sealed in the exhaust. Only thing I could say is unbolt the o2housing and serperate it just enough to look on the inside of it and the turbine housing for oil. You would know it if it was blown tho.... White wall of smoke behind you and/or the sound of marbles in a blender... Lol

Ok, I have no smoke out the back. Or not enough to see. That makes me feel a little better.

Correct. Its not uncommon for a turbo to have a little side to side play. Any in and out is bad. Sounds like the turbo has bad seals and is leaking oil into the exhaust housing as is going to come apart soon.

it sounds like could be a toasted turbo... but could be a number of things... possiably a bad flange gasket, rings, bearings, check compression... but i dont see how just changing the feed like has caused you an issue with the motor so im thinking jus thte turbos bad... i got a 14b if your interested internaly gated at 12lbs... for cheap just throw and offer...
