I had a mechanic change it I took it back to him and he said hey man all i did was change out the starter. i then said what ever and left pissed off. So what I have to do is look at the connection to see if any wires are loose

I went to check the wires and they seem fine. Is it at all possible that the moron put the wrong starter in?

Is the knock sensor any where near the starter that it could have been damaged?

I can't stand it the car is not even fun to drive this is killing me

The knock sensor is on the back side of the block if im not mistaken. I dont think it would be be the starter because the starter is just mainly used for the start up then nothing else after that.. Did you check all you intake hoses and things? Sounds some what of like a vacuum leak and i know all those hoses are in the area of the starter.

^+1 that woud def explain the rpms going all over the place. Check to make sure the EGR vacuum hoses havent been disconnected because they are right by the starter.
