Question spark issues

I replaced the head gasket on my brothers 96 gs eclipse yesterday. the car popped the hg on the interstate, was immediately parked and towed home. We replaced the head along with the hg. When put back together it would seem to fire once and then stop. we then individually pulled out the plug wires and checked for spark. when i would turn the key all the way off and then turn it over each wire would spark 1 or 2 times and then not again until the car was turned all the way off. any ideas? I am a nissan person and this is new to me.

any help is appreciated and repped.

I had a very similar issue, when I put the fuel rail on the new head, some water got in one of the injector connectors. The car didn't throw a CEL, but ran like complete ass.

If you have not already, I would disconnect the battery for at least 20 minutes to reset the ECU. Then, check your connections at the coil, check for spark on each line, check grounds. (A multimeter is your friend here, you can get one at harbor freight for something like 6 bucks if you don't have one.) Also, Make sure there is no moisture in any of the connectors / harnesses.
