Alex I can offer a few mods to the current evo roms such as No lift to shift, flash CEL on knock detection, Rear o2 simulator patch, valet mode for not going over a certain rpm/boost when the valet guy takes your car, as well as on the fly map switching. (ie: Your pump gas map and your race gas map) all it takes is a 2 way switch. As previously stated, I also like to add ecu peripherys control which allows one to disable almost evey factory function. All personally tested on evo 7 8 and 9 roms. Credit for this patch goes to Tephra in the UK. Takes about 15 minutes of modifying the xml and rewriting the code to your rom.

I am still testing the newest patch for the 8 and 9 which allows you to control boost trough the factory ecu. Boost by gear seems to be promising! Most achieve this by upgrading to the jdm map sensor which allows you to log boost and gives you better control in the boost tables using the factory ecu. Credit goes to MrFred.

Just a little info for those thinking of upgrading to an aftermarket ecu.

Yes. I plan on taking the stock Ecu all the way to mid 9's one day. Only 1 second to go and I haven't even touched the block yet.

 

+1 for another believer in the stock ecu capabilities!

 

Now with the speed density patch coming out things are gonna get really nasty. I'm making a few small changes to my car in a week or so and as long as I can get the launch dialed back into solid 1.5 60ft's I should be in the 10.1-10.3 range.

At DH9 I ran a 10.5 with a crappy 1.69 60ft and a bad clutch.
