I figure since there are always questions about them and I am truely bored off my ass I would start a thread about what to look out for.
DSM 101 (no requirements)
90 - strong engine shitty electrical shitty brakes shitty trannies shitty rear ends
91 - strong engine good electrical shitty brakes shitty trannies shitty rear ends
92 - strong engine good electrical shitty brakes shitty trannies good rear ends
93 - weaker engine good electrical good brakes shitty trannies good rear ends
94 - weaker engine good electrical good brakes shitty trannies good rear ends
95 - weakest engine better electrical good brakes good trannies good rear ends
96 - weakest engine better electrical good brakes good trannies good rear ends
97 - weakest engine better electrical good brakes good trannies good rear ends
98 - weakest engine better electrical good brakes good trannies good rear ends
99 - weakest engine better electrical good brakes good trannies good rear ends
DSM 102 (requires DSM 101)
stronger engine = big rods big head big intake manifold big TB small exhaust manifold big turbo small O2 housing
weaker engine = small rods big head big intake manifold big TB small exhaust manifold big turbo small O2 housing
weakest engine = small rods small head small intake manifold small TB large exhaust manifold small turbo large O2 housing
shitty electrical = replace almost everything engine related ecu TB coilpack fuel injector etc
good electrical = replace the ecu packs
better electrical = too good gives to many CE lights
shitty brakes = single piston brakes
good brakes = dual piston brakes
shitty trannies = crappy shift forks crappy 1-2 shift and just crappy shifting
good trannies = ok shift forks better 1-2 shift and better shifting
shitty rear ends = 3 bolt brittle rear ends
good rear ends = 4 bolt strong rear ends
DSM 103 (requires automotive mechanics 101)

Just to fuck up your equation..had a 90 GSX with NO electrical probs...all depends on how much osmebody has frigged with it. James..why dont you postt he limits for the rear ends and rods and such..like ets and such...I mean a 3 bolt can actually take some abuse

If I ever get hired at Honda when I have a prototype Ill make sure youre the test driver. Can you wait 6 or 7 years??

Tony your car may have been fixed before you bought it. Usually most 90s have some sort of electrical gremilans in there. I posted this for people who are thinking of buying a DSM. ETs are hard to say because it is due to your driving style. 2g blocks have been proven to run into the 11s but I have seen them blow up in the 13s. 3bolt rear ends can be fine in the 12s but dont do a stutter box launch on one!
