Default Question about air suspension on an eclipse

Anyone ever put air struts on their eclipse? I have a 98 eclipse and I'm about to put air ride on it. I noticed there is a black bracket of some kind right above each tire. I have 18 inch rims on the car and there is about a half inch to an inch clearance between the tire and the bracket. Does anyone know what this bracket is for, or if it creates a problem with the car lowering due to the air ride? thanks

ive put air bags on a car before but you have to be more specific on the bracket your talking about a pic would help.actually it sounds like your talking about the upper control arm.

i think that is what it is. it sits right above each tire. i'm putting air lift air struts on it. I've seen other eclipses that seem to sit on the ground with air ride, so i'm curious as to what they did.

what kind of kit do you have...it all depends on the travel of your suspension do you have a cylinder kit...or a real bag on strut kit. cylinder kit is going to suck hairy monkey balls. bag over shock is best. longer the stroke the more travel. and most kits come with some kind of adjustable bottom fork.

ok first off if the part you are talking about is the upper control arm then yes it is possible to cause problems with it being stock, it's a peace that bolts in 2 places to your car and in one place to your hub, correct? there for it should look like
this Attachment 115388

easy was to figure out if it's going to be a problem is to take the strut out,put your wheel back on and lower your car with a jack until it ether stops because it hit the control arm or the ground, just my .02
