ok. . . so i've had this 87 starion for a couple of months, and its been runnin good and strong (for a 20 yo car w/o a rebuild). I've been using for a daily driver with no problems except the exhaust leak i bought it with---a couple weeks ago i was making my way to the beach on the highway and it suddenly cut off-it started back up with a consistant clank comming from the block. . .it shifts fine -but does'nt go faster than 20-30mph- honestly, i have no idea what's wrong............

one of my friends told me it might be the exhaust manifold leak sending bad signals to the comp.

another guy told me that the timing might "magically" be off.

and a couple of guys are tellin me that its the headers-or pistons knocking the block....

Honestly the motors that come in the Starion are really shitty so it doesnt suprise me that its all messed up....id do a motor swap and call it a day.

 

lol, really? The only problem they really had was the fact that they had so much vacumn crap in it.

Check your balance shafts, and while your at it install the balance shaft eliminator kit, more power, less problems.
