ebay turbos?
i was lookin on ebay and found some turbos for 900.00... is it worth it? or what should i do i want some boost...oh its on a 420a by the way.... yeah yeah i know 420a everyone keep ur comments 2 urself im not gonna swap it idk wat u say jus want a lil boost on the 420.
You're gonna have to run pretty low boost on your 420A, to prevent detonation.
Unless you plan on building your motor, it's not really worth while. Besides, if you decide to pour money into building a motor, you're better off doing a swap, or picking up a used GS-T or GSX, seriously.
As far as EBay products...very hit or miss. Some parts are decent, but majority of the products, are usually of poor quality, which end up leading to fitment issues, and the products themselves failing/falling apart, and causing more catastrophic damage to the engine, drivetrain, etc.
I've heard some decent things about the intercooler cores though. They seem to be pretty solid...but I do remember reading a review, where someone benchmarked an EBay intercooler, versus a name brand one, and the EBay intercooler didn't flow as many CFM's as the name brand. But, unless you're running a high horsepower application, the EBay intercooler should suit a decently modded car well, and save the user a nice bit of money.
As far as the turbochargers themselves, I'd stay away from those "SS Autochrome, "XS Power", "Evo III 16G GT-made in china" garbage. Go with a reputable compressor, since that is a very integral part of the intake side of boosted application.
I'm not very well versed with the options for RS/GS applications, but I know Hahn was one of the most popular and reputable brands out there for 420A turbo kits. I'm sure there's many more options out there now a days. Do your research and check in with the guys at 2GNT.com. They will be able to help you way more in your quest for boosting your 420A, than many of the guys here on TR can.

If you are buying a turbo buy one from a reputable company and a reputable manufacturer. One of my close friends has one of the nicest 2gnt-"t"s I have ever seen in my life. I can give you his contact information and he will point you in the right direction.
First off, never ever buy new or used turbos off ebay. Ebay is cheap, yes sometimes you find good deals on name-brand stuff...but whose to say that the product wasnt swaped out for a cheap part, or the part is not as discribed.
Although i strongly am against turbo'ing a 420a cuz its not strong enough. But lets be realistic, why buy a big $900 turbo when you cant boost past 8 or 9psi!? You can get a good used T28 or something for a few hundred and have a quick spooling turbo. and in my opinion, using a smaller turbo would be safer than using a 16g or something and be tempted to turn the boost up really high and blow a hole in your block.

I had one of the Ebay Evo III big 16G turbos on my car for almost 30,000 miles with no problems at all. Then when the new motor went in, the good oil pressure blew the seals right out of it. I ended up finding a company that deals directly with Mitsubishi Turbo North America, and pick up a true MHI Evo III Big 16G for close to the same price as the ebay one.
