alright i bought a 95 mitsu eclipse rs. im wanting some serious horse power! im talkin 600-700 hp. i was thinking instead of heavely modifing the factory moter (wich has +100 k mi. on it) but replacing it with a 3000 GT VR4 engine and doing some heavy mods to it. of course im going to get all kinds of other mods like exhause timers ecus pullys ect. but all that is down the road. for now i need some more power but cheap also. does anyone have any solutions? and what do you think of my plans??

 

Uhh I dont think the 6 cyl fits in the Eclipse engine bay. Ive never heard of it anyway. If you are looking for all of that performance and work why didnt you just buy a GST/GSX ?

 

that motor barely fits in the 3000GT how could it fit in a eclipse? plus if you are looking for big power you are gonna PAY for it big power is big money.

intake header exhaust MSD.... the basic stuff thats my project car I will be tearing into it once I get another car for commuting.

 

well i hope that there might be some modification i can do to it to get the VR4 engine into the eclipse. as for the awd. yes i will be getting that put in as well. i was also hopeing that i can get the shift system from the 2k eclispse the sportronic shifter. would that be possable? i dont know for sure right now im brain stroming. but the VR4 id like to stick with. what other mild mods could i put on for now to get some extra umph out my RS. also the reasons i bought a RS 1: i got a killer deal outa it $3000. 2: i figured with the high mods and hp that i want to acheave the RS would throw the unexpecting driver off.

 

ok this is not a flame or a dis to you. I dont know you your skills or the depth of your pockets....But the amount of money and time that you will spend in doing this swap you could have bought a gsx and built pretty damn close to the hp you are looking to get and still have money left over. I am not saying that it is not possiable to do with enought time and money you can do anything but here is just few things

1. you will need a wrecked vr4 doner car( to try and peice all the parts off of one these cars would cost you and are and a dick)

2 modify the engine bay. Im sure stuff would need to be cut weldded and moved to get this to even remotly fit in there

3. contray to what you may belive just because they make the eclipse in awd puting awd in it is not so easy. Extrem or rre did a gst to gsx conversiona nd said they wouldnt do it agiand because the labor parts and time it took was more than you could buy an awd for.

i could sit here all day and list stuff that woudl need to be done but i think you get the point! if you have the timeskill and money Great!! i would love to see it when your done and will be the first to congradulate you on a job that i didnt think could be done! If not the rs would amke a great daily driver whhile you build something else sounds liek you got a good deal on it.

 

The Rs will make a great sleeper car with the 420a engine it came with. I to have a 97 Eclipse Rs and heres a quick list of my current sleeper mods

I have it set-up at 7lbs boost right now until I build up the bottom end. Sorry I cant give you any numbers yet havent had time to put it on a dyno or take it to a track.
