hello i am new to this forum just join and i will like to ask someting.

i have a 91 eclipse base ( with a 1.8 engine sohc 8 valvels )
i alway have some a problem with it but i dont care i take care of all ( not a expert on mecanic but i know someting)
but the questiong is : is this 1.8 (8 valvel) engine can produce because i fell the car slow.
some people tell me is becos the 8 valvel that if it had 12 or 16 will produce more.
can a car with 8 valve run good or beat a 16 valve one?
i ask because i was reading about hoda CRX engine and one with 8valves make lik e60 hpb and the other one with 16 Valves make 90 Hpb ( same engine) only the head change.
is my 1.8 (8 valves) had a future or is better to get a 2.0 dohc?

 

far better to go with the 2.0 DOHC or DOHC turbo motors. The 1.8 is the worst motor to come in an Eclipse

 

u say the 1.8 is the worst engine to come in a eclipse , but that mean it still worst tha the engine of the mirage Ls have (1.8 sohc 12 or 16 valve dont remember) because the less Valves (8 valve ) or is the same as any other 1.8 engine?

 

The 1.8 single cam is junk. If you want speed then ditch it.

 

i argee i have 3 eclipses 1.8 liters and they are junk i paid 200 for each nad now i have to replace 2 of the motors the rear seals go out in them and they geta real bad knock if u keep up with the oil o and if u need any parts hit me up
