why dont you just take your air filter off? go gm-maft and just put a mesh screen over the intake side of the turbo. thats what i did.. sounds wicked sic

Doctor D; it would prolly be better if the headlight hole was bigger.

Actually I just attempted making a splash shield yesterday for the filter.
When its finished i will post pics of the results. So far Ive cut sheetmetal and placed it under the bottom of the bumper- ( under were the stock side mount would be.) Then i need to go to a junkyard and get a stock fender vent piece in which mines doesn have one. ( the black fender piece that sits directly in front of the tire that would hide a smic.)amd them im going to put like patio screen in it from the front bumper ( only on the side pocket directly in front of the filter, not putting screen in front of my fmic.) and maybe that will lessen the water coming thru the front.
Therefore the back , bottom and both sides will not allow any water thru and the front will block it enough with the patio screen ( which will not be very visable.) ...Follow me? Damn im not good at explaining stuff like that online lol.

This was my post reguarding the cai that is on the first page of this thread....

In case you were interested, go to home depo motorsports, pick up a 4x3" pvc pipe with a 90* bend. It will cost you like 7 bucks. Cut out the metal that sits right under the filter ( fairly easy to cut and once youve got it going you can even bend it out the way.)
Connect THE 4in side of the pvc pipe to your mas adaptor, and then connect the 3in side to your filter. Depending your intercooler routing you may have to manipulate things into place but it will work. Just make sure you have everything connected good so the filter doesnt fall off when your driving, happened to me once and rolled under my tire lol.
The broke person I am, I found a way to reuse the filter temporarily by bending it back into shape and stuff lol.

Well keep in mind about rain, i am going to make a splash shield and what not, and dont hit any puddles or boost when its raining, but other than that its a great mod... Theres been reports of people dropping 30 degs with just removing their right head light housing in front of the intake,

REMOVE your headlights at the track -20*F drop - DSM Forums

therefore I know this will gain even more since your putting the filter completley out of the hot engine bay... Expect 40deg temp drops, you will notice the difference...

Also to add, for those of us running smaller turbos ( i.e. 16gs etc )
This gain will benefit more as densor air getting drawn in will allow for more overall air to be compressed post intercooler, therefore more air flow especially in higher rpm/ pressure ratios. That would explain why i gained a 2psi spike after the cold air intake with changing nothing else !!!

Ill pm you pics of my cold air intake set up if your interested.
