IN MY opinion i think anytime you mod a car you could compromise your reliability . i think moding a evo turbo upgrade, injecters.ecu flash, fmic, motor stuff you will be fine .the weak link is transmission, transfercase, axles.and driver error that was my problem i bought my evo with 6 miles on it with in 2k moded everthing but transmission by 3k transmission was fucked but that was bad driven .if you get a evo learn to drive.it was my first turbo, awd car good luck. p.s with the warranty on a evo they will look for anything to void it bald tires dumb shit like that

I"m at 64,000 miles, and the only thing I have had to fix is the clutch which was replaced at 42,000.

Lightly modded. TBE, FMIC, etc. Nothing serious. My buddy is highly modded, cams, alky, aggressive tune, and much more, and he is running fine as well with around 40k miles

I bought my Evo stock with 19k on the clock. In the near 40k miles and 2.5 years since, the only time the car has given me issues is when the battery died, and when a i/c pipe blew off and I did not have tools. The fuel pump failed but it did not leave me stranded or even affect daily driving (just wide open throttle)

I replaced the clutch at 50k, but not because it needed replacing. I have minor mods (TBE, mbc, flash, fmic) and drive the car fairly aggressively.

This is the longest tenured car in my garage. I usually mod cars and get rid of them about the 18 month mark. I have no plans to do that with this car. Thats as strong an endorsement as I can give!
