what is hydroplane? oh wait that is a term used by 2wd vehicles. hehehehe. I have never hydroplaned before in my talon but Ive done it many times in my truck and that is why I bought a AWD vehicle.

 

Now Ive had friends tell me of losing all traction in the water in their AWDs (must have been alot of water!) and with all of the wheels fighting to gain traction they would just pull to one side very ubruply when one DID gain traction. I know Quatros have some Torque Biasing feature to help eliminate this. I was just wondering what its like...

I guess that would happen if you had bald tires or slicks. Ive never had them so I dont know. When I do launches at the track I slide a little to left but not that much. Ive punched it in the rain and sometimes it slips but very little. I also have a lsd in there so that helps too on the launches. Plus the car weighs alot.

 

The rd in our apt complex get really slik when its wet. I can tell you when all four break loose it feels like your pivioting from the center of the car or sometimes it does just start to move sideways(which feels weird)

It is easily described as how a crab walks. You know when the just start walking sideways. The car just starts to feel lighter all of a sudden and scoot sideways. Really fun.

My only real experience was on a side srteet late at night when the sprinklers had wet down a good 30-40 ft section of 2 lane road. I made a U-turn after making sure the coast was clear. Stopped the car and did a launch off the limiter at 5K RPM. The car just spun all 4 tires but still moving forward at a really fast rate and the rear end kicked out so I was at almost a 45 degree angle on the road. I was still giggling when I got home after that.

 

I hit a very large puddle once on University Pkwy in Sarasota ans the car went straight as an arrow right through it. It was great.

The crab walk is fun though. But Ive only had it happen when I purposely try to break traction.

 

hey denise be nice i never hydro in my car ... well ok once but i was doing a doughnutand it was fun so how have you been missed you at the last grudge match . well missed all the hondas
